With an ethos that businesses should play an integral role in creating new opportunities and be a catalyst for good, the team behind Pickering’s Gin at Summerhall Distillery in Edinburgh wanted to create a gin that had social enterprise at its heart. A social enterprise gin whose profits are poured back into projects to help disadvantaged young adults at home and abroad take part in International Citizenship Service (ICS) programmes.
ICS offers overseas placements that provide skills, training and personal development. Those wanting to join a placement can apply to Challenges Worldwide for a Ginerosity grant to help with fundraising requirements.
Ginerosity mixes traditional botanicals with unusual flavours to give it a gentle modern twist, made with 10 ethically sourced botanicals. The result is a gin full of character. Fresh, light and bold, with citrus and juniper giving way to sweetness, a subtle hint of peppery spice and a crisp dry finish.
