Friends of ANCHOR has served oncology and haematology patients throughout the North-east of Scotland, including Orkney and Shetland, since the ANCHOR Unit opened at Aberdeen Royal Infirmary in 1997. The charity’s mission is to make the patient journey easier by delivering hospital-based support and funding to transform the patient experience.
Friends of ANCHOR works closely alongside NHS Grampian, and provides crucial funding for four core areas: transformative equipment, specialist wellbeing services, pioneering research and education, and clinical excellence.
Since the day the charity was founded, expenses have been covered by Balmoral Group, freeing up donations to be invested right where they’re needed.
“Friends of ANCHOR undertake a variety of fund raising events throughout the year where members of the public get involved and help raise funds to support the ANCHOR Unit and help us cover costs for new equipment and research projects. We’re delighted to have the support of The Gin Cooperative and are grateful we’ve been allocated their official charity spot for 2020 and 2021.”
Elena Aspe, Fundraising Co-ordinator, Friends of ANCHOR
