Gin On The Tyne are three gin enthusiasts based in Newcastle who have a shared love of gin. Geordies Sophia and Rachel first met at university, where they discovered and developed their knowledge of the juniper based spirit. A few years later, Sophia met her fiancé Ian, who had just moved to Newcastle from Glasgow, at a Newcastle rugby match.

Sophia, Rachel and Ian formed Gin On The Tyne in 2018 as a way of showcasing the gins they were drinking and enjoying. Since then they’ve continued to be a positive voice and advocates in the gin community, supporting and championing distilleries across Scotland and the North East through their original content, including photography, gin write-ups and reviews.

Rachel is a marketing professional with a keen eye for great branding and stories and loves raiding her husband’s lockdown garden for garnishes; while Sophia is the ‘flavour queen’, with the sharpest palate this side of Hadrian’s Wall. Ian just enjoys exploring the history and technical aspects of gin and spirit production, and toasting the occasional garnish with his blowtorch!
